Old Spice- Just Think Creative Campaigns Stand Out
If you have seen the Old Spice Videos recently, you will know that Isaiah Mustafa is not the only ‘Old Spice’ man that you have seen. Just Think has kept you up to date with updates with the ever popular Old Spice adverts, and now there is another addition to the campaign.
The ad below, which will run during Thursday night’s Green Bay Packers-New Orleans Saints NFL kickoff game in America, is one of three new ads that will play on the theme of how ordinary guys can be transformed by the brand’s scents.
The campaign has been designed by the same people behind 2010′s hit “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” campaign, and aims for the same zany, deadpan humor as previous campaigns. “I’m not a well-decorated sea captain who battles monsters on a large nautical vessel,” says the new spokesman, who is actually dressed to look like a well-decorated sea captain and has a fake monster on his shoulder. “But thanks to Old Spice, I smell like I am,” he says. As the ad continues, he outlines how he doesn’t have “14 well-oiled abs” or “endless gold treasures pouring from my pants,” although that clearly seems to be the case.
Even tough at the moment, these campaigns are only aired in the US, they have become world-wide viral phenomenoms, and the UK has seen the Issaih Mustatfa campaigns aired on TV in 2010 the other campaigns online. The use of social media in spreading these videos has been very successful, and this new advert is a great example of how Old Spice are using humour to re-brand their previosuly perceived ‘old fashioned’ product with a product associated with masculinity and good looks- with the idea that Old Spice can make every man loved by women.

Smirnoff are undertaking a new social media campaign, using Madonna to try and increase their fan base on the social network Facebook that is a big part of their target audience’s every day lives.
Smirnoff are trying to help Madonna to find a new dancer who will take part in her up-coming tour, in a promotion that will try to get 10 million people in 50 countries to swap their nightlife stories via the Smirnoff Facebook fan page. The new campaign will also include an event on November 12th, where 50 parties will occur simultaneously within different countries. Madonna will attend one of these parties, where dancers will compete in a dance-off infront of her. One dancer will then be chosen to join Madonna on tour.
In the past, Madonna has kept a relatively low profile on social networks, aside from her Facebook fan page, but this new Smirnoff campaign should work well to revive both Madonna’s and Smirnoff’s presence on social network Facebook, and may also increase demand for Madonna to have a presence on Twitter and share her every day experiences and news with her fans.
